Our Mission

The South Central Collaborative (S.CC) unites over 50 partners from community, private, public, non-profit, and philanthropic sectors to drive meaningful change across three vibrant and culturally rich areas of Phoenix: the Warehouse District, Central City South, and South Phoenix. Our mission is to implement the South Central Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Community Plan, fostering partnerships and initiatives that benefit existing residents and businesses along the South Central Corridor.

Our Goals

Launched in 2016, the Collaborative was born out of a shared commitment by local leaders, community members, and business owners to ensure that the $1.3+ billion South Central Light Rail Project serves as a catalyst for connection and growth rather than displacement. By uniting diverse voices from economically distressed areas, we aim to shape a future where the community thrives on its own terms.

Our Vision

At the heart of our efforts is community-based participation, leveraging local assets, inspiration, and potential to create quality spaces that enhance health, happiness, and well-being. Our key priorities include:

  • Mitigating the Negative Effects of Gentrification: Safeguarding residents and businesses from the adverse effects of development.

  • Workforce Development & Wealth Building: Promoting opportunities for multigenerational workforce opportunities and economic stability and growth.

  • Affordable Housing & Community Development: Supporting arts and culture-focused projects and enhancing neighborhood infrastructure.

  • Comprehensive Infrastructure Planning: Developing a strategic public/private funding plan to support sustainable growth.

As dedicated champions of the South Central Community Plan, our partners are fully committed to realizing a vision of a connected, empowered, and flourishing community.

Together, we are transforming the South Central Corridor, ensuring that progress benefits South Central residents, businesses and community members.
